This is a mellow whole body yoga practice that includes a longer warm-up using gentle flowing movements that build strength and pelvic floor muscles, working toward standing postures and balance work, and ending with floor work and relaxation. Beloved Yoga: A Sanctuary for All

11109 Sunset Hills Rd.
Reston, VA 20190
https://belovedyoga.cowtinker.com/om/schedule

This yin class is a wonderful counter class to our more active lifestyle. Yin yoga is a more passive practice that targets the connective tissue and the deeper layers of muscles. We do this through longer, static holds of postures. Yoga Nidra, also called the yogic sleep, is a practice that guides you to deep relaxation and inner clarity. Come dressed for comfort and ready to enjoy all aspects of these two powerful practices.

Mondays: Senior Yoga @1:30 pm (in-studio)

Senior Yoga is a safe practice designed to meet the individual needs and abilities of students who are gracefully aging in their senior years. This class is focused on gentle, safe and fun techniques for a slow moving practice. Enjoy a joyful class with your peers and a teacher who is experienced with creating an appropriate class for this age group.

January/February Yin Series

The Wintering Series of Yin & Nidra with Emily

Fridays 7:30-8:45 pm: January 12, 19, 26, February 2, 9
Online and in-person

“Plants and animals don’t fight the winter: they don’t pretend it’s not happening and attempt to carry on living the same lives they lived in the summer. They prepare. They adapt. They perform extraordinary acts of metamorphosis to get them through. Wintering is a time of withdrawing from the world, maximizing scant resources, carrying out acts of brutal efficiency and vanishing from sight; but that’s where the transformation occurs………..it’s a time for reflection and recuperation, for slow replenishment, for putting your house in order. Doing these deeply unfashionable things – slowing down, letting your spare time expand, getting enough sleep, resting –is a radical act now, but it’s essential.”
–Katherine May

This winter, lean into the season with this slow, transformative practice of long holds and deep relaxation. Settle deep into your bones to the quietest stillness. Tune into the medicine of slowing down, conserving our resources and insulating our nervous systems.

River Mountain Retreat w/ Aly and Emily

Rest, Reset and Rejuvenation

March 9-12, 2023

Investment: $999 in a Glamping Pod (early bird rate of $899 registered by Jan. 10)

Join us March 9-12, just before the spring equinox, to solidify our winter rest, listen for the stirrings of spring energy within us, and tend the soil of our inner landscape for spring rejuvenation. The rhythm of our three days together will follow these rhythms of nature: rest, reset and rejuvenation.

REST, RESET and REJUVENATION

REST: Winter is a time for deep rest and retreat. On Thursday and into Friday we will gather together around the campfire to meet and greet and connect. Followed by a restful practice to nourish winter rest with ayurvedic foot oiling. On Saturday, an invigorating morning hike to sift through and commemorate our winter rest. There will be time for journaling and reflecting.

RESET: As our time together progresses, we will move into reset as we begin to listen to the quickening of energy beneath the surface with a scavenger hunt for play, guided walks in nature, Yoga Nidra with Sankalpa setting and community inquiry. What energies are quickening beneath your surface?

REJUVENATE: Gather around the fire on Saturday night to celebrate reconnection with our lost parts. On Sunday morning, a warming asana practice of belonging to the larger ecosystem, and a final sharing of our envisioned spring landscapes. What is taking root to anchor us this spring so that we may show up with grace and ground and clarity?

This experience will include:

  • Asana
  • Yin Yoga
  • Ayurvedic Self care ritual
  • Guided nature bathing
  • Awakened rest (Yoga Nidra)
  • Winter hikes
  • Outdoor soaking tubs
  • Bonfire gatherings
  • Scavenger hunt
  • Hammock Hangs
  • Community meals
  • An abundance of space for reflecting, journaling, walking and being in nature
